2K Hires Apex Legends Producer to Boost Challenged Action Game Ambitious Title
2K Games has secured a seasoned producer from Respawn Entertainment to oversee the studio crew at 31st Union, which is currently working on the forthcoming over-the-shoulder roguelike extraction-shooter known as this innovative game.
Leadership Change Follows Poor Feedback
The new appointee steps into the role of studio head at 31st Union following the dismissal of previous head Michael Condrey, who was reportedly let go due to the game's disappointing early showing last fall.
Recently, 2K president David Ismailer notified employees about this strategic move through an internal memo, which emphasized that playtesting had shown the requirement for a distinct vision.
Ismailer expressed that the team is now overhauling Project Ethos with a renewed vision, aiming to better meet player expectations.
Trend of Key Hires
This announcement follows a similar action taken by the publisher in the summer, when they hired an industry veteran from the Diablo team to assist with the BioShock development group.

Team—
I understand you all just finished your gathering - I hope you’re as enthusiastic as I am with the good news. Last time I shared you all a update, I stated the following: “I am confident in this team. You all are some of the most dedicated and innovative designers we have had the opportunity to collaborate with - and we’re excited for that relationship to endure.”
With your dedication and versatility, particularly over the last year, you consistently demonstrate that.
The community feedback from last autumn’s Project ETHOS playtest was revealing. It validated the promise of a action-packed game but made clear we still had work to do. It uncovered the necessity for a clearer identity.
It’s been inspiring to see how far you’ve progressed. You accepted the input to consideration and overhauled the title with a refreshed direction - one that’s positioned to fulfill its ambition to our fans.
Our confidence in Project ETHOS grows every day. To advance the outstanding development you’ve made, It is a pleasure to announce Ben Brinkman as the latest Director of the team. Following several months of conversations, he officially joins us on Monday, October 20.
Ben’s guidance and expertise in the competitive gaming genre is extensive, having spent the recent years producing and managing some of the most popular series in gaming, such as Call of Duty: Black Ops, and lately, Apex Legends.
Let’s together in receiving him in the coming days. We are all looking forward to persist observing the development of Project ETHOS in the months to follow.
David

Game Details and Concept
Project Ethos was announced in last year together with a public demo. Then, the developers portrayed the game as a "no-cost, third-person perspective action-packed experience and an exciting step forward on the category."
"Build your perfect run—or die trying—in this 3rd-person action shooter! Customize your character in real-time to suit your personal playstyle," the game's pitch explains. "Face the opponents with new abilities, challenges, and challenges that change every session. Do you withdraw carefully with your hard-earned loot? Or go big, put it on the line, and trust your team can earn top ranking? The decision is up to you."
The game has not yet received an confirmed launch window or consoles, but players can anticipate more updates as production continues.
